Frequently asked questions.

Answers to the most common questions about appointments, insurance, international patients, and preparing for your visit.

Appointments

  • Call our 24/7 Care Line on +966 9200 66668, use the patient portal at patientportal.kch.sa, or ask your GP to refer you directly.

  • Yes. Same-day slots are available in most outpatient clinics. Call the Care Line from 07:00 for daily availability.

  • National ID or iqama, insurance card, any previous imaging (CD or films), and a list of current medications.

  • Call the Care Line or log in to the patient portal. Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance so the slot can be offered to another patient.

Insurance

  • We directly bill Bupa Arabia, Tawuniya, MedGulf, Allianz, GlobeMed, and Saudi Re, among others. Use the insurance checker on our Insurance page to confirm your policy.

  • Most planned procedures and specialist referrals require pre-authorisation from your insurer. Our insurance team handles this before your appointment — call +966 9200 66662.

  • You can pay directly and we issue an itemised invoice with ICD/CPT codes so you can claim reimbursement from your insurer yourself.

  • Co-payment amounts depend on your specific policy. Present your insurance card at registration and our billing team will confirm your co-pay before any treatment.

International Patients

  • Yes. Our International team arranges virtual second opinions with King's College Hospital London consultants. Email international@kch.sa or call our WhatsApp line.

  • Yes. Our International team provides invitation letters and supporting documentation for medical visa applications to Saudi Arabia.

  • Several hotels are within 5–15 minutes of the hospital. Our International team can recommend options based on your budget and length of stay.

Preparing for your visit

  • Visiting hours for inpatients are daily 16:00–20:00. Outpatient clinics run Saturday–Thursday 08:00–22:00, and Friday 14:00–22:00.

  • Yes. Underground parking is free for the first 4 hours. Valet is available at the main entrance for SAR 30 per visit. Accessible spaces are near every lift.

  • Yes. One companion is welcome in outpatient clinics. For inpatient rooms, we ask that visits are limited to immediate family and follow visiting hours.

  • All consultants and most clinical staff speak Arabic and English. For other languages, our International team can arrange interpretation in advance.

Medical records

  • Submit a request at the Medical Records desk on the ground floor, or email records@kch.sa with your name, patient ID, and the documents you need. Allow 3–5 working days.

  • Yes. Complete a records-release consent form at the Medical Records desk or via the patient portal, naming the receiving institution.

  • Per Saudi Ministry of Health regulations, typically 15 years from your last visit — longer for paediatric and oncology cases.

General

  • Yes. The hospital holds JCI accreditation and operates under the clinical oversight of King's College Hospital London, reviewed by a joint Medical Advisory Board.

  • Yes. Our pharmacy is open 24/7 and dispenses both in-patient and outpatient prescriptions.

  • Speak to the Patient Relations team on the ground floor, email patient.relations@kch.sa, or use the feedback form in the patient portal. We acknowledge every complaint within 48 hours.

  • Yes. Video and phone consultations are available with most outpatient specialties. Book through the patient portal or the Care Line, selecting 'Telemedicine' when prompted.

Admissions & Pre-admission

  • Between 24 and 72 hours before your procedure. The earlier the call, the easier the day-of arrival.

  • Four steps: (1) Pre-admission call — a nurse phones 24–72 hours ahead to confirm details, insurance, allergies, medication. (2) Pre-op workup — bloods, ECG, imaging if needed, in a single morning visit. (3) Day of admission — skip registration and head straight to your room; consent forms are confirmed there. (4) Discharge brief — a written plan in English and Arabic, prescriptions delivered to your room, follow-up booked before you leave.

  • Private rooms with a companion bed, a named nurse and consultant in writing, a halal dietitian-tailored menu, and discharge by 11:00 for most planned-procedure stays with prescriptions and notes ready.

  • One companion is welcome in a private room and a second bed is provided. Paediatric admissions can have two parents at all times.

Billing & Financial Counselling

  • Four steps: (1) Written estimate — a single page listing the procedure, indicative cost range, and expected insurance cover. (2) Co-payment confirmed before the consultation begins. (3) Itemised invoice sent to you and your insurer after the visit. (4) Claims follow-through — we track the claim through to settlement.

  • Only the co-payment, if your policy requires one, and only after we confirm the exact amount in writing.

  • Cash, card (Mada, Visa, Mastercard), and Apple Pay at every counter. Instalments through Al Rajhi or Mayssara — 3, 6, or 12-month plans. International invoices in English with ICD/CPT codes for reimbursement.

  • Refunds settle within 7 working days of the closed claim, paid back to the original card or bank account.
